Comic Relief is funding our new Renewable Energy Hub

Built using eco materials, it will serve as a centre for innovation, training, and community engagement, designed to accelerate renewable energy adoption.

We are delighted to announce that Dream Renewables has been awarded a three-year funding partnership through Comic Relief’s Climate Justice Programme.

This support marks a major milestone for our organisation and will enable us to realise a long-term ambition: the development of a Renewable Energy Hub near Kumasi, Ghana.

Our current training centre is holding us back. The training space is small, we do not have a dedicated indoor workshop, our office is inadequate, and we cannot invest in developing the space because we rent it. Our new Renewable Energy Hub will go far beyond addressing these issues and will provide a base that reflects the quality and scope of our work.

The Hub will serve as a centre for innovation, training, and community engagement, designed to accelerate renewable energy adoption—particularly in rural areas. It will include a vocational training centre, a public-facing renewable energy demonstration site, a working farm showcasing solar-powered irrigation, and dedicated spaces for collaboration, workshops, and alumni engagement.

Together, these elements will create a practical, hands-on environment where skills are built, ideas are tested, and local solutions are developed.

At the community level, the funding will also deliver immediate, life changing impact. We have already electrified six rural health clinics, transforming vaccine storage, nighttime care, maternal services, and staff working conditions, all of which contribute to improved health outcomes and help reduce the financial strain that poor health places on families.

With Comic Relief’s support, we will install solar systems in two additional clinics, using a model that trains community members in installation and maintenance to ensure long term sustainability, while also creating local skills and income opportunities.

What makes this partnership particularly meaningful is that we did not apply for this funding. Comic Relief reached out to us following recommendations from trusted partner organisations—an encouraging reflection of the strength and impact of our work.
